What Is Bellafill?
Bellafill is a dermal filler that is injected into nasolabial folds and acne scars to reduce their appearance. Made using bovine collagen and polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) microspheres, this filler has been around for many years in the United States, and in Europe since the 1990s. Bella fill can instantly smooth away frustrating wrinkles and scars using proven active ingredients that restore the structure that supports youthful-looking skin. In addition to its active ingredients, Bellafill also contains lidocaine to make your injections more comfortable.
What Are The Benefits of Bellafill?
Bellafill is a multi-faceted dermal filler. At first glance, it may seem to work just like any other dermal filler. However, once the PMMA and bovine collagen have been inserted beneath the skin, these ingredients continue to work behind the scenes to support ongoing collagen production over time. Collagen is the primary substance behind firm, plump, smooth skin. It is integral to the skin’s scaffolding and its lifted appearance. With age, collagen production declines significantly, which is why you’re seeing lines and wrinkles where none existed before. By injecting collagen directly into the approved areas, your provider stimulates positive changes that can redefine your facial aesthetic without looking at all unnatural.
How Is The Bellafill Injection Procedure Performed?
The first step in getting Bellafill is to consult with an experienced injector who is very familiar with this product. During your consultation, we will discuss your desired outcome, the concerns that you have, and how Bellafill may work to correct them. This product is ideal for nasolabial folds and certain types of acne scars. Before getting Bellafill, you must undergo allergy testing to ensure that you can receive bovine collagen. The allergy test is done on the forearm, where a minute amount of the Bellafill product is placed. If, after 28 days, you have not experienced any itching, swelling, or redness on the site, you can arrange your Bellafill injections. This treatment is performed just like any other dermal filler. Your injector will use a fine needle to carefully deposit the right amount of the filler into the designated area. Your treatment session should take 15 to 30 minutes, after which you can immediately resume most of your normal activities looking and feeling your best. We do suggest holding off on exercise until the day after this treatment.
What Kind Of Results Can Bellafill Achieve?
Bellafill immediately reduces the appearance of lines and scars. The product also continues to rebuild the scaffolding beneath your skin by stimulating ongoing collagen production. According to the FDA, the retention rate for Bellafill wrinkle-reduction is 87 percent after five years. For scars, 71 percent of patients continue to enjoy the effects of their treatment after one year. If you want long-term relief from scars or smile lines, this filler may be ideal for you.
What Are The Side Effects of Bellafill?
Because Bellafill contains bovine collagen and requires allergy testing, many people assume that the treatment may incur significant side effects. It does not! The side effects that may occur after Bellafill injections are similar to those of other injectables. These include redness, swelling, minor soreness or tenderness, and itching. There is also a chance of bruising, but you can reduce this risk by avoiding products that thin the blood for one week before getting your Bellafill injections. There is a very slight risk of granulomas, hard nodules beneath the skin. However, this occurs in less than 1 percent of patients.
